Soloist - Momo Shinohara
Yuko Momo Shinohara performs Bartok's Third Piano Concerto with the New Hampshire Philharmonic on March 21, 2009.
Pianist Yuko Momo Shinohara obtained her artist diploma in solo piano at Longy School of Music (Boston), studying with Victor Rosenbaum. While there she collaborated with a variety of prominent musicians including Robert Merfeld, Menaham Pressler, Robert Levin, Richard Goode, Leon Fleisher and Gilbert Kalish.Ms. Shinohara recently obtained the Concertiste Diplome at Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris in the class of Christian Ivaldi.
Ms. Shinohara has received a number of significant performance awards, including 2nd prize at the Schubert International Piano Competition (Dortmund,Germany) and 3rd prize at Ile de France International Piano Competition. She has appeared in performance in the Tel Aviv Museum, Symphony Hall (Boston), Mozarteum, Dortmund Konzerthaus, Sceaux Music Festival (Paris), She has appeared as a soloist with a variety of orchestras of substance, including the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Longy Chamber Orchestra, the New Hampshire Philharmonic and the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra among others.
An active chamber musician, Ms. Shinohara has appeared in the Marlboro Classic Series featuring piano four hands with Robert Merfeld (professor of Boston University and Instructor at Harvard University); at Yellow Barn Music Festival (USA) collaborating in a piano trio with Joel Krosnick (cellist of the Juilliard quartet), and in live performances at WGBH radio (Boston) and Accent 4 (Strasbourg), and in tour in eastern France organized by ASS.AJAM (Strasbourg). She performs regularly at Zurich Operahaus chamber music concerts. Since 2007 Ms. Shinohara has appeared in the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival (Italy) as a faculty artist.
Tonight's performance marks is Ms. Shinohara's second appearance with the New Hampshire Philharmonic. She performed the Grieg Concerto to great acclaim in October 2004, Anthony Princiotti conducting.
