The Philharmonic celebrates the coming of spring with a program of anticipation and triumph. The fiery Piano Concerto no. 3 of Bela Bartok is performed by the Paris-based pianist Momo Shinohara, who returns to our stage after a triumphant performance with the Phil five years ago. As a culmination of our year-long Drawn to the Music project with schoolchildren statewide, public radio’s Laura Knoy narrates an illustrated version of Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite. The concert ends on a triumphant note with the monumental Russian Easter Overture of Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert, led by Music Director Anthony Princiotti, takes place on March 21, 2009 at the Palace Theatre Manchester.
